About

I am a multidisciplinary and curious communication designer currently living in London, passionate about visual communication and focused on editorial design, webdesign and photography.

I am graduate with a BFA from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon since 2012 and after being responsible for the DESIGN:FBAUL'12 exhibition's website, I started an internship as Graphic and Webdesign Assistant in Greenlight Marketing (London) through the INOV CONTACTO program. After this internship I had the opportunity to collaborate with CHK Design where I develop my layout composition skills.

My main goal is to explore the multiple relationships between image and typography through different channels (from print to digital), since I believe that the communication process becomes more efficient and the design practice gains a lot with multidisciplinary professionals.

Seattle'12 was a project which aimed the approach to the social design, through a communication platform/campaign based in a detailed research of an actual paradigm, seeking the the collaboration with International Amnesty.

"Synergy is the Key" was an edition of a magazine, 4 posters and a website (can be seen here) that illustrated a manifest of awareness of the web users.

As the title suggests, the great power of internet is the creation of synergies, and for its better use it's imperative to raise user's awareness.

Editorial project which goal was the update of the Cultural Agenda of Lisbon, through a strategy and structural change of the print and online versions (online version here).

"Janela's culture lives in the infinite views of Lisbon's windows, in which we can see from outside to inside as the opposite. It lives in the street walls and frontages, in the houses as in people who live there. We see them in the streets, in object's names, in alleys and gardens."

Mixing Messages was a project focused on the research around themes related with design paradigms, taking in consideration the connection between different historic and critic references related with Andrew Howard's article “There’s such a Thing as Society” (1994).

This article is centered in the role of design in society and it's social, artistic and professional responsibility. It was analysed the design practice position according to a given time and cultural context, which in “There’s such a Thing as Society” it was the post modernism in the United Kingdom.

  • Arquivo Gráfico'2011/12

During my academic studies, we were constantly challenged to visit and to explore the events that were happening in Lisbon (exhibitions, theater, cinema, music and so on) as a cultural growing.

While we were developing the main projects, it was supposed to create objects in which we could practice our critical position, analyse and reflect about these events in order to become inspirations for our projects. That's why "Arquivo Gráfico" was designed, to become the archive of my experiences and thoughts around films, exhibitions and theather I saw in Lisbon.

In the old psychiatric Miguel Bombarda Hospital(Lisbon), there is one of the most important buildings from the late 19th Century. One Pavilion designed in 1892 by José Maria Nepomuceno - Panoptic. This term is used to describe the ideal model of prison, developed by the philosopher Jeremy Benthem in 1789. It's circular shape and the location of a central lookout post allows a better watch of the prisoners.

This term was also used by the philosopher Michel Foucault in his book "Surveiller et Punir: Naissance de la prison" in which he analysed the evolution of the social and theoretical mechanisms in the ocidental prison system.
